Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I Sell My LOT?
LOTs can be placed on the market at any time. Pricing guidance is provided by Farmfolio based on third-party appraisals, however LOTs can be listed at any price. Liquidity depends on the appetite of the market, and can vary based on economic conditions. However, in general LOTs can be liquidated relatively quickly - generally in a matter of weeks. Farmfolio charges a 3% listing fee for the service of listing the LOT and conducting the transaction, and the remainder is paid directly to the farmowner.
Where Is The Fruit Sold?
Farmfolio maintains control over a series of vertically integrated agribusiness assets that allow for the continuous commercialization of all of our products, all the time. For example, with lime, our farms sell to our packhouse, Valle Verde, which in turn sells to our fruit distribution company, Farm Direct Partners. This allows us to go fully downstream in the supply chain and extract maximum value from our produce, which is then passed along to farmowners and other stakeholders.
Who Manages The LOTs?
LOTs are managed by an in-house team of experts developed over the course of our years of experience in the farmland sector. This includes the day-to-day supervisors and laborers at the farms themselves as well as agronomists, logistics managers, and more. Farmfolio maintains its central offices in the city of Medellin, from which our team members can reach any of the farms in a matter of hours, and the company has satellite offices in Pereira, Montería, and at the farms themselves.
What can I expect to make if I buy a LOT?
Farmland is among the few asset classes that offers the dual benefit of appreciation and cashflow over the long term. Our LOTs opportunities are forecasted to yield between 10%-12% in income once the farm’s biological assets reach full maturity. Needless to say, some years are better than others, and returns can depend on production, fruit quality, market prices, and other factors. We focus on products with strong demand profiles, and we target regions of rapid development to maximize our return potential.
Are all of your opportunities located in Colombia?
Yes - for now. Colombia is an incredible investment destination, if you’re locally established and can navigate the landscape. But it’s not the only place out there that’s ripe with opportunities. Farmfolio’s current focus is on Colombia, and specifically on the Andean and coastal regions. However, we have lines of business in Peru, Mexico, and the United States, and those will be our natural points of expansion in the future.
